ChatGPT Ads Manager is open for Slovakia: we opened an account and here's what it looks like

In brief

  • Since Aug 31, 2026, Slovakia has had Available status in OpenAI's table — you can open a self-serve account yourself
  • The interface is fully in Slovak and billing is in euros
  • The daily budget is an average — on a single day it can spend double
  • Custom audiences don't work in the EEA, and personalized ads still aren't available
  • Since Aug 31, ChatGPT is a very large search engine under the DSA — your campaigns will be publicly searchable

Since August 31, 2026, ChatGPT Ads Manager has been available to Slovak businesses on a self-serve basis — no agency partner, no waiting for the OpenAI team. As recently as August 24, the official availability table listed Slovakia as Coming Soon.

This is an update to our original article about ads in ChatGPT coming to Slovakia, in which we wrote that access to campaigns was not guaranteed. That no longer holds.

So we wouldn't just be writing from the documentation, we opened our own account and went through the entire onboarding. Below you'll find screenshots from the real interface, concrete budget figures in euros and three account settings that can't be undone.

What changed in nine days

On August 31, 2026, OpenAI announced that its ad business had passed a billion dollars in annualized revenue less than 200 days after launch. In the same announcement, the company opened self-serve ad buying for India, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

The Ads Manager availability table now lists more than fifty countries, and none of them shows Coming Soon anymore. Slovakia included.

This is what Ads Manager looks like for a Slovak account

First surprise: the interface is entirely in Slovak. Not machine-translated fragments, but the whole product — Overview, Campaigns, Tools, Billing, Settings.

There's one more thing in the bottom left corner worth mentioning: an invitation to manage campaigns directly through ChatGPT. So you don't have to create and edit campaigns by clicking through the interface — you can do it through conversation. It's a logical continuation of how OpenAI builds its products, and for agencies it means routine campaign management can be automated sooner than is usual for a new platform.

Onboarding has three steps

According to OpenAI's documentation and our own run-through, the path to your first campaign looks like this:

  1. Business information — company name, website, logo, industry, country, currency, time zone
  2. Account verification — via the Persona service; the account then goes into review
  3. Creating your first campaign — campaign, ad group, ad, review
  4. Billing setup — billing profile and payment card

Note the order: the campaign is set up before billing. So you can walk through the account and price things out before entering a card.

Three settings you can't change later

This is the most expensive mistake you can make when setting up the account. Country, billing currency and time zone can't be edited once the account is created. If you get them wrong, the only fix is to create a new account — and for that you need a different email address, because one address can create only one advertiser account.

The practical consequence for companies with multiple brands or entities: think through your account structure before you click sign up.

Campaign setup: targeting, budget and one warning

The entire setup of your first campaign fits on one screen. Three things on it deserve a closer look.

Campaign setup in ChatGPT Ads Manager: Conversions objective, Slovakia as location, a daily budget of 15 EUR and a warning about custom audiences in the EEA
Campaign setup with a Conversions objective targeting Slovakia. A daily budget of €15 means maximum daily spend of €30 and maximum seven-day spend of €105.

Targeting Slovakia works as usual

Slovakia is available as a target country in the location list. You can also target by exclusion — a user in an excluded location won't see the ad even if they also fall within an included location.

Right in the interface, however, a warning appears that you won't find in the marketing announcements: custom audiences are not supported in campaigns targeting locations in the EEA or Switzerland, because personalized ads aren't available there yet.

So the custom audiences OpenAI introduced as a new feature at the European launch can't be used for a Slovak campaign. You're left with conversation context, geography and language. That hasn't changed since August, and it's the biggest difference from Google Ads or Meta Ads, where audiences are the core of targeting.

Why it's not just a limitation

Without audiences and remarketing, all the weight shifts to how you describe the situations in which your ad makes sense. Contextual hints at the ad group level aren't keywords — they're descriptions of conversations. A company that can name exactly what problem its customer is solving has an advantage here that no budget can buy.

At the same time, paid and organic visibility are two different games. You can buy an ad, but not a mention in an answer — that belongs to content optimization for AI search (SEO, AEO and GEO).

Budgets are in euros — but the daily budget isn't a cap

A Slovak account is billed in euros, and you enter the daily budget directly in them. In the screenshot above the value entered is €15, but two more numbers appear below the field: €30 and €105.

The reason is that the daily budget in ChatGPT Ads is an average over a seven-day period. According to the documentation on daily budgets, two rules apply:

  • maximum daily spend is twice the daily budget
  • maximum seven-day spend is seven times the daily budget

If you're planning a €300 test month on a client account, expect the system to spend up to twice what you anticipate on a single day. For a client who tracks spend daily, that's an unpleasant surprise — explain it upfront and communicate a weekly cap, not a daily one.

OpenAI still recommends starting CPC campaigns with a maximum bid of 3 to 5 USD per click. It hasn't yet published an official table of minimum budgets for Slovakia; for comparison, the minimum in the US is 25 USD per day and in the UK 15 GBP.

AI rewrites your copy. By default.

The last item on the same screen is a “Text customization” toggle, which is on by default. According to the description in the interface, AI automatically generates customized and translated versions of your ad's headlines and descriptions — and these may be shown without you reviewing or approving them.

In regulated industries, with legally sensitive claims or a strict brand manual, you'll want to turn it off. For a typical e-shop, on the other hand, it can help cover language variants.

A new variable: ChatGPT is a very large search engine under the DSA

On the same day OpenAI opened self-serve buying for Europe, the European Commission designated ChatGPT a very large online search engine (VLOSE) under the Digital Services Act. OpenAI itself reported roughly 159.1 million monthly users in the EU, while the threshold for designation is 45 million.

OpenAI has four months from notification to comply, which means around the turn of 2026 and 2027. Fines for DSA violations reach up to 6% of global annual turnover.

Why this matters to advertisers, not just OpenAI

VLOSE designation also brings an obligation to maintain a publicly searchable ad repository. In practice, this means a Slovak company's campaign in ChatGPT will be publicly searchable — who advertised, with what link, in what period and with what targeting.

So your competitors will see both your copy and your targeting. Just like in the Meta Ad Library. If you plan to test a new product or pricing strategy through this channel, expect it not to be a quiet test.

The flip side: you can watch your competitors just the same. For an agency, it's a new source of competitive analysis.

What OpenAI reports about results

In its August 31 announcement, OpenAI gave two concrete examples: an e-commerce advertiser achieved a threefold return on ad spend across campaigns over 28 days, and a technology partner reported that more than 80% of traffic from ChatGPT ads came from new customers.

Take it for what it is — data published by the platform vendor, without methodology or independent verification. What we wrote in August still applies: the first published comparisons from the US market showed a substantially lower conversion rate than Google Ads.

What remains usable: the share of new customers suggests the channel probably doesn't overlap with your existing audience. That's an argument for testing from your acquisition budget, not your remarketing budget.

What to do this week

If you followed our advice in August and prepared your materials, you now have somewhere to use them. The order of steps:

1. Reserve the account name and the right entity. Country, currency and time zone are irreversible. Decide which company will be the advertiser and the billed entity before you create the account.

2. Allow time for verification. OpenAI notes that it reviews applications in a rolling queue and verification can take a while. A duplicate application won't speed things up.

3. Sort out conversion tracking before your first campaign. Without the pixel and the Conversions API, the Conversions objective can't be set up meaningfully. If your tracking has gaps, start here — this falls under advanced analytics.

4. Set the budget with headroom for double. Communicate a weekly cap to the client, not a daily one.

5. Decide on text customization. On or off — but deliberately, not by default.

6. Prepare a product feed if you run an e-shop. Feed campaigns are supported, and a quality feed is the foundation of performance. That applies to e-commerce solutions just as it does to any other performance channel.

7. Write contextual hints as situations, not keywords. Without audiences, describing the conversation is your only targeting tool.

Is it worth launching a campaign yet?

If you sell a product with a longer decision cycle, a test budget makes sense today. The channel is open, competition in the Slovak market is still minimal and the cost per click is still taking shape.

If you sell low-cost impulse purchases, wait. Without audiences, remarketing or benchmarks, it's an expensive way to learn.

And if you're not sure which group you belong to — that's exactly the question we answer before anyone spends the first euro.

Frequently asked questions

Can a Slovak company advertise in ChatGPT today?

Yes. Since August 31, 2026, Slovakia has had Available status in OpenAI's official availability table, which means self-serve access. A company creates an account directly at ads.openai.com, goes through verification and can launch a campaign without an agency or technology partner.

What currency is ChatGPT advertising billed in for Slovakia?

In euros. You choose the currency when setting up the account, and it can't be changed after the account is created. You enter the daily budget directly in euros.

What is the minimum budget for a ChatGPT campaign?

OpenAI hasn't published a table of minimum budgets for Slovakia. For comparison, the minimum in the US is 25 USD per day and in the UK 15 GBP. For CPC campaigns, OpenAI recommends starting with a maximum bid of 3 to 5 USD per click.

Can a campaign spend more than the set daily budget?

Yes. The daily budget is an average amount over a seven-day period, not a cap. On any single day a campaign can spend up to twice the daily budget, but over seven days no more than seven times it. With a budget of €15 a day, the maximum is €30 per day and €105 per week.

Do custom audiences and remarketing work in Slovak campaigns?

No. Custom audiences are not supported in campaigns targeting locations in the European Economic Area or Switzerland, because personalized ads aren't available there yet. Targeting relies on the context of the current conversation, geography and language.

Will my ChatGPT campaign be publicly visible?

Probably yes. On August 31, 2026, the European Commission designated ChatGPT a very large online search engine under the Digital Services Act, which comes with an obligation to maintain a publicly searchable ad repository. As with the Meta Ad Library, campaign copy, timing and targeting should therefore be searchable.

Does ChatGPT rewrite my ad copy?

If you leave the default “Text customization” setting on, yes. AI automatically generates customized and translated versions of headlines and descriptions, which may be shown without your approval. The toggle can be turned off when creating the campaign.

Can a campaign be managed directly through ChatGPT?

Yes, Ads Manager lets you create, edit and manage campaigns conversationally through ChatGPT instead of clicking through the interface.

Which account settings can't be changed later?

Country or region, billing currency and time zone. If they're entered incorrectly, the only fix is to create a new advertiser account — and that requires a different email address, since one address can set up only one account.
