Medoks — honey cake product photography
01

The brief

Medoks makes Old Bohemian honey cake and honey treats according to a traditional recipe. The products are sold in retail chains and online, where the first impression from a photo is decisive.

The goal was to photograph the products so that they whet the appetite at first glance, evoke tradition and home cooking, and can be used in the e-shop, on social media and in advertising.

How we solved it

A rustic scene with a story
We built a scene that refers to traditional production: old wooden boards, a marble slab, brass and cast-iron weights, an antique scale, a wicker basket, a jar of honey with a dipper, walnuts and yellowed newspaper. Every prop supports the story of honest craftsmanship.

Product detail
We photographed the Staročeský medovník dukátek cut open to show off the individual layers and creamy filling, and paired it with its original packaging. Honey balls in paper cups show the texture of the coating and the shape of the product up close.

Light and color
Warm side lighting brings out the honey and caramel tones and creates depth in the scene. A shallow depth of field keeps the product in the foreground sharp, while props in the background complete the atmosphere.

Various compositions
The shoot produced wide shots of the whole scene, shots of product groups and tight close-ups of a single piece. The vertical format is ready for the e-shop, social media and print materials.

The result

Medoks now has a set of food photos that present its honey cake and honey balls as a traditional treat made with an honest recipe. The photos can be used on the website, in retailers' e-shops, on social media and in advertising campaigns.
